Great News!!!!

We found out from our agency today that they received the last missing piece of our paperwork from the State of Indiana. The dossier has already been sent to the US Department of State and the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington DC. That process takes around 3 weeks and then the dossier will be sent to Ethiopia. That means hopefully by the end of March we will officially be on the waiting list.
Our update last week from AAI said that the next referral for a boy will go to a family who has been waiting for about 10 months, for a girl it is about 14 months. So it is very possible that we will be going to get our child next year at this time.
We have been told that this will now be the hard part. However, we believe it will happen when God finds the child who is supposed to be part of our family. So the wait will be as long as it needs to be. I need some time to wrap my head around this whole thing anyway!

The Paperwork is Done!!!

Well, we finally sent in all of our dossier paperwork last week. This is the end of the line on the paperwork until we get a referral for a child. Our agency has to send it off to the US government to be authenticated and then it gets sent to Ethiopia and we are officially waiting. We are being told that this will take about 3-4 weeks. So hopefully next year this time we will have a referral and be thinking about traveling to pick up our child. What an exciting thought!
We were recently informed that there was an Ethiopian adoption group forming in Fort Wayne. So we got connected with it and I attended the first meeting (Tami was sick with strep throat). It consisted of a few couples that ranged from having their child already to a couple who is just starting the process. I think it will be a huge help with waiting and transitioning once our child comes home because we will have people to lean on that have been through it and have experienced some of the things we will be. Plus it will provide a group of children that our child will have something in common with as it relates to culture and background.
Outside of that things are going well in our house. Tami battled with strep throat for a week. It was the sickest I had seen her in my 16 years with her outside of her being the in hospital with kidney stones. It was a rough week but thankfully the kids nor I got it. We are driving to Fort Myers for spring break which we are really looking forward to.
So now comes the wait. We have been told that this next 9-12 months will be brutal. We ask that everyone pray for us that we stay patient and trust in God's plan for us. We will be praying the same.
